Me: I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna post more on DW
Also me: Doesn't
Welp.
What's been up since *checks* August? Well, I wrote a some exchange fic and got nowhere on my regular stories (RIP). I think I'm gonna do an end-of-the-year round up post of what I've posted this year 🤔. I've also recently gotten into three whole new fandoms, lol.
I played The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes and I REALLY wasn't expecting to get fannish thoughts about a horror game! And yet here we are. The plot is only a little bit contrived to keep the characters from just leaving before anything happens, and the characters themselves are awesome. One part of the main group have a love triangle situation going and while I'm rolling my eyes at it, they really do sell it and are interesting enough on their own or in pairs that I like them still. The real surprise was the other two, though. Excuse me, game, who said you were allowed to make me care about the piece of shit, "America is the best", marine who goes the entire game wearing a 9/11 hat (seriously, it must be glued to him lol) by giving him an amazing character arc that basically turns his entire personality around in the last act?? Then there's Salim, the Iraqi Republican Guard, who's a single father and a reluctant soldier (discovered recently he can actually punch his Captain for talking shit about his son), and also possibly the only person who understands that when you're stuck underground and being chased by demon-vampire-aliens, you should WORK TOGETHER with the other humans and kill each other after you get out of there, not before. In a move that I'm sure is very shocking, I think they should kiss ヽ(✿゚▽゚)ノ. No, but they've got great chemistry and banter (when they stop trying to kill each other), and Salim basically prompts the aforementioned character development for Jason. How could I not ship them, hah. The fandom seems to agree, too!
Aside from that, I also impulse-bought Death Stranding since it was 70% off on Steam. First, it looks incredible. And I can't even run it on max graphics. Second, I was warned it's basically a walking simulator with a cool story, and while this is definitely true, it's actually pretty fun! The walking (or driving, there are vehicles!) isn't without enough breaks that it gets tedious or annoying, but then again I actually like doing stealth missions in other games that require you to be careful where you go and what you do :P. The main character says he delivers things, and by god, does he keep to that - even if people keep trying (and succeeding) to get him involved in Big Plot Things like "rebuilding America" and "stopping a terrorist organization". I'm early on in game still, but I'm already itching to go read fic. Also the antagonist, the leader of the terrorist organization? Is RTMI. Black cloak, dramatic speech AND a gold skull mask?! Yes, please. (Also the OST is *chef's kiss*.)
Most recently (as of like, 3 days ago) I've started to watch Word of Honor. It is also extremely RTMI. The main couple being an ex-assassin boss and a ghost lord (still not entirely sure if they're actual ghosts or just outcast humans) is amazing, but the other characters, the politics and the general plot are also very interesting. I'm only on episode 13 so I'm reliably informed I ain't seen nothing yet, and I can't wait lol. But also, the main couple are being VERY flirty and I'm really surprised how blatant this is. I haven't read the novel (yet!) so I can't tell if this accurate or toned down or what, but wow! One of them literally spends the first ~6 episodes talking about the other's shoulders and how he must be wearing a disguise, because his face (he IS actually wearing a mask lol) doesn't match his good shoulders and how he must be beautiful~. And it's only gotten worse (better, really) since then! It's amazing and I should really get back to watching.
Oh! And I ended up biting the bullet and signing up for multifandomdoodle at the last second. Nothing like a deadline and other people to get you drawing after months, right? :D
Also I saw this meme linked on EAD today, and it looked cool. Spreading the (anon) love~
