Kaidan surreptitiously tracks Shepard as he passes by for the third time in an hour, looking even more disheveled and stressed. He takes care to not be caught staring. There’s a line they’re walking, a very thin line across which things like “fraternization” become reality, and neither of them can afford that. Especially not now, with Saren almost in their grasp.
But once he’s taken care of…
Kaidan shakes the thought off. Work first, daydreaming later.
(On his way back up to the CIC, Shepard glances at Kaidan’s lowered head before moving on with regret. If only they had time.)
