Dear Five Figure Fanwork Exchange 2022 Author
Hello, author! So exciting to have you here.
In the first section below I’ve listed my DNWs and general likes, and in the second the specific fandom requests with some thoughts on why I like the thing and prompts.
The latter are, of course, purely optional. I’ve included them as a way to show you a general direction of where my taste runs. Also, how much I have to say about a fandom/character/ship isn’t indicative of how much I want it - I’d be equally happy to receive a gift for any of the requests, I just had more thoughts for some while writing (and sometime all I have to say about a request is “!!!!! please :DD”)!
Although I’ve requested almost entirely relationships, I would be very happy with a fic that’s more focused on plot than shipping, so if that’s what you want to write, please do!
Additionally, if anyone feels inspired to do extra treats, I very much welcome them!
That’s all! Happy creating! 🖋
DNW:

- a/b/o / omegaverse
- daddy/mommy kink
- pregnancy (references to canon events where necessary are okay)
- anything to do with kids as a focus including having them, being turned into one, etc.
- underage sex (under 16)

- parent/child incest
- permanent death of the requested characters unless it happens in canon (or they’re ghosts/undead of some kind)
- non-canon serious illness (e.g. cancer)
- first person POV (unless it’s something like epistolary fic)
- mundane AUs (coffee shop AU, college AU, etc.)

For easy navigation, I've put fandoms and the elaboration on/prompts for ships in their own details section. As above, click on a fandom/relationship/character to collapse the section.
I like all characters so feel free to include/mention others as long as the focus is on the requested!
Prompts:
→ Instead of one of them going off with Alt, they both stick around in V’s body. Now they have to figure out how to cohabitate on a more permanent basis and it sure helps that neither of them exactly minds this situation when death isn’t looming.
→ Post-game, Johnny and V are successfully each in their own body. Although this is objectively a good resolution to the Relic problem, neither of them is exactly happy about it. Being alone in their own heads feels… empty.
→ Post-game, Johnny and V are successfully each in their own body. V is busy being a Legend and taking over the Afterlife, and Johnny, for lack of something better to do, starts taking merc jobs himself. Especially ones where he can stick it to a corp. This mostly goes well until he bites off more than he can chew and V has to come to the rescue.
→ Soulmate AU of the ‘name of your soulmate appears on your skin’ variety: Johnny doesn’t believe in fate or soulmates, tough luck for whoever this ‘Vincent’ guy is - and he doesn’t meet him before he dies anyway, so. Some decades later V, not dead, is about to discover a whole new meaning of ‘soulmate’.
→ Really any soulmate AU, hah, the time difference between their lives make those so delicious.
ex old bandmate slash terrorist. Joke aside, I really love the way the relationship happens in the game. Kerry goes from being stuck in his own head and basically using V as a Johnny-link to genuine appreciation of him and it’s really heartwarming. And I refuse to believe V didn’t have at least a tiny crush on Rock Legend Kerry Eurodyne at some point.
Prompts:
→ AU where they meet before Johnny decides to break into Kerry's mansion, while V’s working - either for a third party or for Kerry himself - and they develop a relationship that way.
→ V needs to go to the Crystal Palace. Conveniently, his boyfriend is one of the few musicians whose stardom allows them to play in the Las Vegas of Space. The solution is obvious, but there is one small issue: V cannot go as himself. He will have to pretend to be a part of Kerry’s crew.
→ There are many perks to dating Night City’s resident rock star, but the media’s seeming need to know everything about him and the people he dates isn’t one of them. Or: V and Kerry are trying to have a relationship and keep it out of the screamsheets. Results vary.
→ Although Kerry first became interested in V mostly as a connection to Johnny, he’s genuinely come to like and appreciate V for himself. Problem: V hasn’t realized that and still thinks he’s mostly there for the good sex and the Johnny link. Which is fine! Totally! It’s not like he’s gone and gotten attached to Kerry or anything.
Prompts:
→ Back in the 20s, what if Kerry had managed to talk Johnny out of the Arasaka raid?
→ Generally, any “what if?” you could think of where Johnny doesn’t die in Arasaka Tower.
→ Samurai is broken, Kerry is on the fast track to personal stardom, and he hasn’t spoken to Johnny in ages. This is fine with Kerry, right up until circumstances (whether inflicted by outside forces or by Johnny himself) force them to interact again.
→ You know how in the TTRPG Kerry was kidnapped and rescued by Morgan Blackhand (https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Morgan_Blackhand?so=search#1980s_-_2021)? What if that but instead it’s Johnny doing the rescuing, with or without Blackhand (I love Blackhand, by the way, feel free to include him).
→ Post-Temperance ending, Johnny comes back to NC after some time. Kerry is Not Happy with the disappearing act, but they still find themselves spending time together.
Prompts:
→ Any way the previous prompts can be smashed together or refitted to be about the three of them.
I love canon-divergence stuff from the Founders era, especially of the Izuna lives or Madara stays in/returns to the village variety. There’s just so much room for interesting things to happen and total freedom to do it since what we have of that time period is so scarce! I also love clans and early Konoha worldbuilding - the politics of it, the cohabitation, the 'how do we, actually, make this village thing work?', etc.
I like all characters so feel free to include/mention others as long as the focus is on the requested!
pouting refusing to fight when he gets a clone and not the real deal are things that live rent free in my mind. Also I love it when the popular perception (of civilians, other shinobi, whatever) is that of the two, Madara is scarier due to his… everything, but in reality, Hashirama is much more terrifying, despite - or because of - his idealism. (The flashback of what Hashirama says when “killing” Madara is *chef’s kiss*.) I also bet Madara is really into it.
Prompts:
→ Against their fathers’ wishes/warnings/orders, they keep meeting. Not anywhere so obvious as the river, of course - but they often cross paths on missions, only mostly on purpose. As the years turn, their old friendship turns into something more.
→ Although the new Uchiha-Senju alliance has been confirmed, they are worried whether it will hold long enough for them to build something of it. Hashirama has an idea: if all the bloodshed is because of endless revenge for their families, why not remove that as a factor? In other words, he proposes marriage. If the Clan Heads get married, then the two clans become, at least nominally, family.
→ As far as Madara is concerned, Hashirama being the Hokage is great - he’d hate to have to deal with all the bureaucratic nonsense. But there is one problem: the high profile position means that any relationships he has are up for public scrutiny, and shinobi are the worst gossips. Madara would rather make friends with the Hyuuga than have his love life become the newest dinner topic, so they must keep their relationship a secret. That’s easier said than done.
→ After dying and making amends with Hashirama, the last thing Madara expects is to wake up again. Even less so to wake up on an extremely familiar battlefield, the one where so long ago his brother had been struck. Not only that, but Hashirama is right there, staring back at him. But the look in those eyes is not that of the desperately idealistic young shinobi he remembers so clearly still, but rather the same one Hashirama had in the future.
Prompts:
→ Everyone knows Madara can’t stand Tobirama and vice versa. And yet somehow, they end up having to go on a mission together. When the mission goes wrong, they are forced to spend large amounts of time together, against both of their wills and better judgment.
→ Hashirama is desperate for his brother and his best friend to get along better. Or at all. He resorts to various methods. What he doesn’t know is that those methods are a bit too effective. If he wasn’t a shinobi, he could have probably become a matchmaker.
→ It’s perfectly fine to have wild amounts of sex with the guy you hate and who hates you return. It is not fine to then develop any sort of feelings about him, no matter how good looking when naked.
→ Seal failure traps Tobirama in a time loop. Unfortunately for him, the only other person aware of this is Madara, who also got caught in it. Now, they have to work together in order to ever see tomorrow.
Prompts:
→ A reasonable way to deal with having to work close together with the guy that almost killed you is to have sex with him, right? Right? (Izuna, no.)
→ Seal failure traps Tobirama in a time loop. Unfortunately for him, the only other person to be aware of this is Izuna, who also got caught in it. Now, they have to work together in order to ever see tomorrow.
→ Izuna walks in on Tobirama experimenting with what will eventually become the Edo Tensei. Tobirama is forced to explain lest Izuna come to some kind of crazy conclusion about what he’s doing. Even so, Izuna decides that someone sensible has to keep an eye on experiments of this nature, and unceremoniously appoints himself as the one to do it.
Prompts:
→ Instead of dying, Shisui is transported to the past - right in front of one Senju Tobirama, who must now decide what to do with an injured, obviously-dying Uchiha.
→ A Hiraishin failure sends Tobirama through space and time to a future that confirms that peace could last. Except the longer he stays, the more he notices the cracks in the facade everyone is keen to keep up for him. Everyone that is, except the one Uchiha whose eyes he can feel following him everywhere.
→ Instead of being killed, Tobirama is saved from the Kinkaku Force just in time - by an Uchiha he could almost mistake for Kagami, who is not very receptive to Tobirama’s plan of sacrificing himself. Shisui has no idea how or why he’s here, but there’s no way he’s letting the Second Hokage die if he can do something about it.
Also as a sort-of exception to my mundane AUs DNW - I don’t really consider things like “Elves through history” or “Maglor in modern times” one of those, and in fact really love both tropes, so please feel free to write them if you so wish! I can never have enough :D
Note on characterization: I prefer Elrond & Elros & Maglor & Maedhros to have developed a genuine familial relationship, though if you’re not into the whole Kidnap Fam thing I understand and am okay with pretty much any way to write their relationship except ‘M&M were monsters’. And please, if she comes up, no Elwing bashing.
I like all characters so feel free to include/mention others as long as the focus is on the requested! And go with whatever names you like, I just use the Sindarin versions here for ease.
Prompts:
→ Maglor in the 20/21st century. Any take on it. Is he fitting in? How does he deal with the leaps of technology, particularly in relation to surveillance and the possibility of someone noticing he’s not aging?
→ Alternatively, pick a historical period earlier than the 1900s. What was Maglor doing then?
→ Just how powerful is his voice, I wonder? In competition with other elves, in battle…
→ Just anything where he has to interact with any cousin or non-Feanorian family member tbh.
→ Maglor returns to Valinor at some point after the Ring war (via whatever route you like, Elrond, hobbits, Earendil, divine intervention, etc.) and has to reckon with the changes - in himself, after war and kinslaying and wandering the world for thousands of years alone, and in those he left behind (including possibly those who died and are now reborn).
→ Crack-ish AU where the real Gil-Galad either didn’t ever actually exist or he died at the end of the War of Wrath. Somehow, Maglor ends up filling in - the reasoning may be flimsy, but there must be a High King of the Noldor, no, you can’t refuse. The contradictory backstory of Gil-galad comes about as a deliberate obfuscation tactic. (Galadriel probably thinks the “Fingon’s son” rumor is hysterical.)
Prompts:
→ After Maedhros' rescue from Thangorodrim, Maglor feels like he failed Maedhros, since Fingon did just prove rescue is possible, even if he knows that it probably wouldn’t have worked if anyone else had tried that. Maedhros on the other hand is being extremely practical about it. This causes some… tension.
→ Maglor stops Maedhros from fiery death. Now they have to deal with being alive.
→ Some time after the Fourth Age in Valinor, a reembodied Maedhros discovers that no one knows where Maglor is. Elrond searched for him, but was unable to find him. Clearly, this calls for a quest. (Though with less kinslaying this time, Maedhros promises.)
Prompts:
→ When Celebrimbor first meets Elrond he doesn’t actually know who he is. They strike up a friendship and that continues for a while before they get on the same page about who’s who. (Whether Elrond is aware that Celebrimbor doesn’t recognize him is up to you.)
→ Celebrimbor is rescued from Sauron/not captured in the first place and ends up with Elrond in the newly-established Imladris.
→ I’d just really like to see them try to navigate the weird way they’re related. Cousins is probably the easiest way to go, but I feel like they might take a while to get there! What with the whole kidnapping bit.
Prompts:
→ I would really love to see any AU where the ships don’t burn for whatever reason. Maybe Fëanor has a moment of clarity and realizes how bad of an idea that is, maybe Maedhros successfully talks him into it, maybe something else entirely forces his hand into another path.
→ Fëanor doesn’t die and is still there to meet Fingolfin. He’s torn between being pissed off at him, which is just his standard reaction to anything Fingolfin does, and wanting to ask him if he’s actually crazy, for dragging himself and all those people across the Grinding Ice instead of turning back like Finarfin. For his part, Fingolfin is going to punch Fëanor and he doesn’t care if he’s technically his king.
→ Anything where they’re in the Halls of Mandos and talk to each other. Maybe Fëanor is reluctantly impressed with Fingolfin’s charge against Morgoth. Maybe Fingolfin still has many things to say to Fëanor, about the burning of the ships and things that happened before and after. Maybe with the passing of the years - and through seeing the Doom of the Noldor come true while being helpless to do anything - they start to get along a little better.
Prompts:
→ At some point after the First Age, Daeron runs into Maglor while he’s wandering. He’d really like to yell at him, for a lot of things, but it’s kind of hard to work up the energy when he’s not sure Maglor will even notice, as he’s so out of it.
→ Getting into a slightly antagonistic, clandestine relationship with your new music rival is probably not a great idea even at the best of times, and First Age Beleriand is definitely not the best of times.
Note that I tend to fall on the side of being sympathetic to Booker - although I’m not that much of a fan of stories where it’s completely about how the rest of the Guard ~failed~ at catching Booker’s depression or whatever. Also while a lot of potential stories naturally happen in various historical periods, I’m not at all expecting 100% historical accuracy or any, really. Feel free to handwave it/just look it up on wikipedia. Though I would also love it if you do write something that you put research into!
I like all characters so feel free to include/mention others as long as the focus is on the requested!
Prompts:
→ Pick a period in the last 1000 years you like; what was the Guard doing then?
→ Now, we know from Copley’s wall that Nicky went to college in the 1990s - but what about the rest of them? Did they go with him? Have they all attended college in modern times? What about in the past? What was it like? (For DNW purposes, this doesn’t count as a mundane/college AU since it’s set in the canon universe.)
→ I bet as technology developed in the 20th century, they had to adapt fast to the higher chances of being spotted/recognized as being unkillable. Were there any earlier incidents where they were almost discovered?
→ These may be a bunch of immortal warriors, but they can’t be fighting all the time. I bet they’ve had to resort to drastic measures to amuse themselves at times. Has this ever resulted in any of them doing something extremely stupid while the others cheer on/despair?
Sorry, no relationship-specific prompts for this one, but please go wild. I’ve nominated three different relationships (Desmond & Andy, Booker, Joe, Nicky / Booker / Quynh) because I think those three would make good stories, but feel free to mix and match. Also if you set things post-movie, feel free to include Nile, I love her.
I love the character arc of Shepard, how he goes over the course of the games from soldier taking everything in stride to visibly bowed down by all the responsibility on his shoulders. And still, until the end (and even past that, hah) he still stands up and does what must be done. I don't really care about origin/notoriety for Shep (or if he's custom or default), but recently I've been into the whole Butcher of Torfan thing.
Some prompts may lean in a OT3 direction, and I don’t mind if that’s where you want to take it.
I like all characters so feel free to include/mention others as long as the focus is on the requested!
Prompts:
→ Per Alliance regulations, they cannot be together. But Spectres exist to break rules, and surely the potential end of the galaxy is a good enough reason to indulge?
→ They used to be together on the first Normandy, but the subsequent events - namely death and being on different sides - put a stop to that. When Kaidan comes back on board, things are fine between them as long as they pretend that they’ve only ever been friends. But after an accident at a Cerberus facility that ends with them stuck together alone, they may not have the option to continue doing that.
→ Post-Virmire, Shepard and Kaidan are both shaken by the choice the first made, though for different reasons. Kaidan is trying to come to grips with surviving in Ashley’s place when he was prepared to die. Shepard is questioning whether he made the call because it was genuinely the best decision or if he wanted to save Kaidan for selfish reasons.
Prompts:
→ Garrus’ hero worship of Shepard takes a turn for the intimate.
→ Reverse of the above: when they meet again on Omega, Shepard does a double take at the ways Garrus has changed. And then he can’t stop noticing him, even if he’s always “calibrating”.
→ The shooting contest in ME3 takes longer to conclude. The stakes… escalate.
Prompts:
→ In the wake of the Normandy’s destruction, the crew is left adrift. Garrus and Kaidan stick together.
→ During the two years while Shepard is dead, Garrus disappears in the criminal world and Kaidan throws himself into his work for the Alliance. Their paths cross again while they’re both working…
→ Garrus is not the person Kaidan expected to have tension with when he returned to the Normandy, but is undeniable. But is it caused by left over animosity over being on different sides of the battlefield or is it something else?

Cyberpunk 2077
In general, I love exploring the world - corporations, corruption, the exploitation of the masses for personal greed, Arasaka vs Militech, the place of the mercs and fixers in NC, etc. But also, I love the dynamics between the characters, the push and pull of it. I’m partial to a V that’s actually into the whole go big or get dead deal that Night City is selling, even though he’s aware that it’s likely to kill him - though obviously, ymmv, so don’t feel obligated to lean into this if you don’t vibe with it. All lifepaths are cool, but I have a fondness for Corpo V. Likewise, (Don't Fear) The Reaper is my preferred ending, but regular The Sun is fine. Temperance is great as well (that good, good angst!). Feel free to pull out the 'and then they miraculously found Johnny's body and V was no longer being erased’ card, too!I like all characters so feel free to include/mention others as long as the focus is on the requested!
Johnny Silverhand/Male V
I love the way they go from ‘can’t stand the sight of you, if I could I’d kill you’ to ‘would literally take a bullet for you and will die for you’ in, like, no time at all.Prompts:
→ Instead of one of them going off with Alt, they both stick around in V’s body. Now they have to figure out how to cohabitate on a more permanent basis and it sure helps that neither of them exactly minds this situation when death isn’t looming.
→ Post-game, Johnny and V are successfully each in their own body. Although this is objectively a good resolution to the Relic problem, neither of them is exactly happy about it. Being alone in their own heads feels… empty.

Some decades later V, not dead, is about to discover a whole new meaning of ‘soulmate’.

Kerry Eurodyne/Male V
Almost a strangers to lovers story, except for the part where one of them is possessed by the other’sPrompts:
→ AU where they meet before Johnny decides to break into Kerry's mansion, while V’s working - either for a third party or for Kerry himself - and they develop a relationship that way.

Kerry Eurodyne/Johnny Silverhand
I just love the long and messy history between Johnny and Kerry, and I’m especially partial to it having been some form of requited, though probably pretty messed up, and not just Kerry sadly pining away. In the flashbacks we see, all Kerry does is argue with Johnny, so I like to think they actually fought and were much more equal than Johnny implied when speaking to V. Johnny seems to have real issues with properly acknowledging that, yeah, he does care for Kerry, even though he went and found all that information about him while on that bender. Though I also feel like in 2077 Kerry is more hung up on the ideal of Johnny, rather than the actual person.Prompts:
→ Back in the 20s, what if Kerry had managed to talk Johnny out of the Arasaka raid?

Madara would rather make friends with the Hyuuga than have his love life become the newest dinner topic, so they must keep their relationship a secret. That’s easier said than done.
→ After dying and making amends with Hashirama, the last thing Madara expects is to wake up again. Even less so to wake up on an extremely familiar battlefield, the one where so long ago his brother had been struck. Not only that, but Hashirama is right there, staring back at him. But the look in those eyes is not that of the desperately idealistic young shinobi he remembers so clearly still, but rather the same one Hashirama had in the future.
Uchiha Madara/Senju Tobirama
Possibly the very definition of enemies to lovers. I feel like Izuna, whether he’s dead or only got away with a big wound from that fight, would be a big Thing™ between them, especially for Madara. (On the Senju side, Hashirama would probably be unbearable about Madara/Tobirama, if he ever found out, lol.)Prompts:
Senju Tobirama/Uchiha Izuna
Look, enemies to lovers is on my likes list for a reason. Izuna never dying or just getting seriously injured by Tobirama creates such interesting possibilities for them in the village. Or maybe even they somehow get together (for whatever definition of “get together” you want, I’m very okay with them just having a friends/enemies-with-benefits situation going) before the village happens?Prompts:
Senju Tobirama/Uchiha Izuna
This idea came to me one day and hasn't left since. I feel like they would be very interesting together, given their respective attitudes regarding the village and the place of their clans in it. There's the Kagami thing, Tobirama's Uchiha issues, Shisui's Uchiha issues, the entire history of the Second Hokage and the Uchiha clan... I would love literally any take on this.Prompts:
The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien
Any time period is fine, though I’m partial to the First Age, reincarnation in Valinor whenever (reembodiment; no adults as children/in child bodies please), and during their time in Mandos. I love the tragedy of the Noldor. Themes of loyalty and doom are especially delicious. Compliance with canon events (i.e. traumatic death) are absolutely okay. Go all out on the angst if you wish, this is the canon for it. Or you can focus on the happy/less horrible times, too! I’ll love it either way.
Maglor
Tragic figure or terrifying kinslayer? How about both! I love that he’s the one to survive the first age of all the Feanorians, and that he ends up writing the Noldolante. I love all possible variations of what happens to him, from sad beach cryptid through ‘he ends up with Elrond’ to ‘he’s just living his life after a certain point’, as well as any characterization that doesn’t make him out to be a total monster (though I do love it when people write him as at least a bit arrogant, I admit, and a good warrior).Prompts:
Maedhros & Maglor
Their dynamic is so interesting to me! We have all these snapshots of them - Maedhros getting captured and leaving Maglor in charge who then does not go after him, the Elrond and Elros thing, Maglor wanting to go West at the end and Maedhros refusing, etc. - and they paint so many interesting pictures.Prompts:
Celebrimbor & Elrond
I would love literally anything with these two, I simply need more interaction between them. I have a weakness for a Celebrimbor that’s ambitious and determined and convinced he’s right, in a way that both mirrors and is completely different from Curufin and Feanor. And for an Elrond who is not quite the wise person he is in LOTR, not yet settled and sure of the world and his place, and also - when he forgets to act otherwise - clearly raised by kinslayers engaged in a Doomed war.Prompts:
Fëanor & Fingolfin
I am, forever and always, fascinated by these two. Any take on their relationship is like catnip to me. I'm particularly into the idea that when they were younger, before politics and Fëanor’s issues and Fingolfin’s ambition got between them, they got along much better. Never as well as Finwë might have wished for, but well enough if distant still. I love it when they're actually pretty similar on some levels (see: willingness to throw down with Morgoth), though Fëanor is much more hot-headed and Fingolfin, more of a strategic thinker (until he loses it, that is).Prompts:
Daeron/Maglor
Look, ultimately, there’s only two things great musicians like these two can do when they find themselves in the same place - fight or make out. And fighting would be spectacularly bad politics, at pretty much any given time. I don’t particularly care what version of Daeron you go with, I like them all.Prompts:
→ At some point after the First Age, Daeron runs into Maglor while he’s wandering. He’d really like to yell at him, for a lot of things, but it’s kind of hard to work up the energy when he’s not sure Maglor will even notice, as he’s so out of it.
→ Getting into a slightly antagonistic, clandestine relationship with your new music rival is probably not a great idea even at the best of times, and First Age Beleriand is definitely not the best of times.
The Old Guard
Oh man, this movie has simply consumed my brain. I just love the entire concept and the execution of it.Note that I tend to fall on the side of being sympathetic to Booker - although I’m not that much of a fan of stories where it’s completely about how the rest of the Guard ~failed~ at catching Booker’s depression or whatever.
Andy & Booker & Joe & Nicky
I simply love the Guard’s group dynamic. That scene at the start, where they all meet up, is pretty close to being my absolute favorite. I’d love to see them at any point during their centuries together, doing… literally anything. Or maybe post-movie, dealing with all the stuff that’s happened? In the latter case, please don’t let the lack of Nile in the tag stop you from including her - I love her a lot! Also please note that while I adore Joe/Nicky, I’d prefer that the story not be focused only on them and their relationship, but on all four of the characters.Prompts:
Crossover: Assassin’s Creed/The Old Guard
I’ve been thinking about the possibilities of this since I saw the movie. Not only the present day things - there’s a bit of a similar vibe between Abstergo and Merrick Pharmaceuticals, no? - but also during the past. Altaïr, Ezio and Connor all lived in interesting times and it can easily be assumed that the Guard might have crossed paths with the Assassin Brotherhood (and maybe Desmond saw them in different ancestors' memories, creating a lot of questions). Are they aware of the Assassin/Templar war? If so, did they get involved at any point? Maybe the Guard rescues Desmond from Abstergo before the Assassins get there. Maybe Desmond doesn’t die in the Grand Temple, finds some way to survive, and meets the Guard or just Booker or Quynh on their own while traveling. Maybe instead of dying, Desmond becomes the newest immortal.Sorry, no relationship-specific prompts for this one, but please go wild. I’ve nominated three different relationships (Desmond & Andy, Booker, Joe, Nicky / Booker / Quynh) because I think those three would make good stories, but feel free to mix and match. Also if you set things post-movie, feel free to include Nile, I love her.
Mass Effect
If I had to pick a favorite game of the trilogy it would have to be ME3, because of the character interactions and the way Shepard feels the most alive (ironically enough); but I also love ME1, where characters feel way more idealistic than they later become, and ME2 where it all seems to be crashing down but it's still bearable. I love the opening of ME2, especially the Normandy destruction scene - there's something very visceral about it, and the way silence is used works wonders.I love the character arc of Shepard, how he goes over the course of the games from soldier taking everything in stride to visibly bowed down by all the responsibility on his shoulders.
Kaidan Alenko/Male Shepard
I love Shepard and Kaidan's relationship; not just the canon romance, although old soldiers slow burn is perfect, but all through the 3 games: the easy camaraderie they have in ME1 from the first time we see them talk, through the pain of Horizon (note: I tend to think Kaidan had the right of it there), to the back and forth pushing at the start of ME3. I like the way Kaidan doesn't actively need Shep the way other crew/LI do and is willing to stick to his guns/morals even when it puts the two of them on opposite sides, and I like the role reversal thing they do in ME3, where Kaidan is all “You did what you had to” re: Cerberus, and Shepard is now the one questioning everything.Prompts:
Male Shepard/Garrus Vakarian
I love how he basically drops his entire life any time Shepard comes knocking. The transformation of ME1 Garrus who's just so clearly start struck by Shepard's everything into ME2 Garrus who's much more world weary and grizzled, but still cracking jokes, to ME3 where he's advising the highest ranks of the Turian military and damn good at it, may just be one of my favorite in the trilogy. I like the way Garrus holds Shep's opinion/views in such a high esteem that he goes along with them even when it's not what he set out to do and seeks out his approval even though he doesn't actually need it. Their dynamic is amazing no matter what angle you take at it, but I love the subtle differences between if Shepard is more Paragon or more Renegade.Prompts:
→ Garrus’ hero worship of Shepard takes a turn for the intimate.
→ Reverse of the above: when they meet again on Omega, Shepard does a double take at the ways Garrus has changed. And then he can’t stop noticing him, even if he’s always “calibrating”.
→ The shooting contest in ME3 takes longer to conclude. The stakes… escalate.
Kaidan Alenko/Garrus Vakarian
The dynamic of Garrus ‘red tape is literally killing me’ Vakarian and Kaidan ‘cutting corners gets people killed’ Alenko would be absolutely amazing, what can I say. For all that they rarely interact in-game, I’d like to think they by turns get along really well and really not. They’re both good soldiers, but they approach it from two very different directions. I’d love just about any take on this ship tbh.Prompts:
→ In the wake of the Normandy’s destruction, the crew is left adrift. Garrus and Kaidan stick together.
→ During the two years while Shepard is dead, Garrus disappears in the criminal world and Kaidan throws himself into his work for the Alliance. Their paths cross again while they’re both working…
→ Garrus is not the person Kaidan expected to have tension with when he returned to the Normandy, but is undeniable. But is it caused by left over animosity over being on different sides of the battlefield or is it something else?
